From Dream to Calling: Returning to Thailand for Missions

Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to visit Thailand—a dream I’d held onto for years. Asia had always intrigued me, and when my best friend, who lives there, invited me as a gift, I jumped at the chance. The trip was meant to be purely fun—a chance to explore, relax, and experience a place I’d always wanted to visit.

But something changed during my time there. Near the end of the trip, it turned into something much deeper. Just before I left for Thailand, a friend I used to work for shared an incredible piece of her family history. She told me about her great-grandfather, a Scotsman who was one of the very first missionaries to Thailand. His story immediately resonated with me, as my family also has deep Scottish roots.

While I was there, I visited his grave and the university he founded. Seeing the scale of what he built and the lives impacted by his work was overwhelming. His legacy was so much larger than I could have imagined—a powerful example of what God can do through a single life fully dedicated to His purpose.

Standing in that place, I felt an undeniable stirring in my spirit. Years ago, I had received a prophetic word that I would one day be involved in missions work in Asia. At the time, I didn’t know how or when it would happen, but as I stood there, it felt like that word was beginning to unfold.

The trip also reminded me of my time with YWAM, where my love for missions first began. Being in Thailand rekindled that passion—stepping into a new culture, building relationships, and sharing God’s love in tangible ways.

Now, I have the incredible opportunity to return to Thailand, this time with Church For All Nations, for the purpose of missions. What started as a fun adventure and a gift from my best friend has grown into a spiritual calling. My best friend still lives in Thailand, and I’ve even thought about moving there one day. There’s something about the country, the people, and the story God is writing that feels deeply significant to me.

Looking back, this journey has been about more than fulfilling a dream—it’s about stepping into God’s plans and purpose. Thailand is no longer just a place I visited; it’s a place that has shaped my heart and my calling in ways I’m still discovering.
